![]() Each time you actuate the switch to which it is connected, switching it off then on again in quick succession, it goes down one notch, then it cycles again. Philips has a traditional LED bulb (E27) with 3 lighting levels. Not exactly what you're asking for, but it might be a workaround. This can either with built-in potentiometer knob, or linear slider or using a 3rd party dimmer on their barrel connector, but NO TOUCH-BASED DIMMING! However due to the lamps not having build-in-memory once the voltage is too low they just reset and you have to use the power button again, and adjust the brightness/color again.ĭoes anyone know any solid arm-mounted long LED office/architect/task lamps that are completely dimmable from on to off without flickering? That sort of works when using it with the lamp at a low setting already. I've also tried using a hardware dimmer on the barrel connectors of these lamps. They generally don't have more than 4 brightness levels and you have to cycle through them with a single tap, no up/down.They don't have built-in memory, so if you unplug them they revert back to their default brightness/color.You then have to cycle through all other options to get back to the original setting that you didn't mean to change. Controls to cycle color or brightness are right next to each other, making it easy to accidentally change one while trying to change the other.Since you cannot see or feel it, this is fiddly at best and infuriating at worst. To turn the light off, you often have to hold the brightness control for several seconds.Basically all controls are touch-based, and in areas that are hard to see when sitting down/using the lamp.(actually has a physical button! but still have to hold it to turn off completely :( ).Dimming all the way to zero and back up should work as expected (lamp shouldn't turn 'off' when voltage is too low requiring you to hit a power button even if you turn dimmer up again).LEDs should be dimmable to very low level or even 'off' without flickering.Ideally should use a standard 12-24V barrel connector. ![]() Lamp with no controls or 'state' that can be externally dimmed by lowering its voltage.Price is not really a factor if it satisfies the above criteria, but would prefer something under $300.Īlternatively I would also be fine with a less 'smart' desk lamp if it was completely dimmable:.Color temperature controls are not required though. Bonus: brightness or color settings should persist even after power loss.Ideally step-less and a fairly dim minimum brightness, if not able to go completely dark.Brightness adjustable with a straightforward physical twist knob or slider.I would prefer not to mount the lamp to the monitor itself. ![]() Ideal light would be parallel with the top of the screen and illuminating keyboard area right below monitor without too much light bleed
